Chapter Activities

Three Trails West Chapter is proud to be part of the KSDAR team working with America's veterans. Shown here are members of the chapter at a recent Valentine's Day tribute to veterans at the Eisenhower Medical Center in Leavenworth.

Shirley Coupal, the 2007-2010 State Regent of Kansas, chose as her State Regent's project the restoration of the Santa Fe Trail markers in Kansas. Chapters and individuals were encouraged to "adopt" individual stones to defray the cost of whatever repairs were needed. Many needed to be re-lettered; some cleaned; others needed new bases or more intense restoration.

Our chapter adopted the marker west of Olathe, Kansas, on Old 56 Highway at West 151st Street. In October 2009, we commemorated the restoration with a ceremony. Local Boy Scouts presented the colors. This Olathe troop also placed a new rope around the fence, added gravel around the marker's base, and has kept the grass mowed around the monument.

Chapter members serve students and family Veterans at the Stilwell Elementary Veteran's Day Program held November 10, 2017.

Chapter members supported Junior Member LT Meredith McKaig with letters of support, as well as snacks.
