"I now make it my earnest prayer that God would have you, and the State over which you preside, in his holy protection; that he would incline the hearts of the citizens to cultivate a spirit of subordination and obedience to government, to entertain a brotherly affection and love for one another, for their fellow-citizens of the United States at large, and particularly for brethren who have served in the field; and finally that he would most graciously be pleased to dispose us all to do justice, to love mercy, and to demean ourselves with that charity, humility, and pacific temper of mind, which were the characteristics of the Divine Author of our blessed religion, and without an humble imitation of whose example in these things, we can never hope to be a happy nation." ~George Washington, 1783

~Red, White, And Blue Prayer~
The flag is more than a banner. It is the symbol of our nation.
The red, white, and blue have traditional meanings, but to
veterans, colors of the flag have greater significance.
The White Stripes stand for purity in purpose, singleness
of mission. May our country never enter into war without these.
The Red Stripes tell us that Freedom is not without cost.
The lives of many have been given for us to be free.
The Blue Field stands for a kind of loyalty
and comradeship that civilians will never know.
The Shining Stars on a blue field remind us that
somewhere a soldier is looking at the sky, seeing
those stars in the heavens, and thinking of home.
May every person who sees this flag think of these things.
May every veteran see pride in each stripe,
and hope in each star.
