What is DAR?

DAR is a volunteer service organization, that for over 100 years has been dedicated to the objectives of Historic Preservation, Promotion of Education, and Patriotic Endeavor. There are over 170,000 members world-wide, in nearly 3,000 chapters.

To learn about the work of the DAR, visit the committee area of the NSDAR website. Our chapter also has projects and activities relating to these committees.

Membership requirements are the same for all chapters. No chapter discriminates against applicants on the basis of race or religion. Women interested in becoming members of DAR are encouraged to attend a chapter meeting. Please contact us for information on Susannah French Putney Chapter. For chapters located in other parts of Kansas, visit the Kansas DAR website. For other locations around the country and the world, visit the National Society DAR website.

Proving your lineage can be fun and you will learn a great deal about your family and our country's history in the process. The National Society has provided a membership area on the NSDAR website that provides many tips for establishing your descent from a Revolutionary Patriot.

As part of our Membership program, both chapter officers and members are available to offer suggestions and provide assistance to women who wish to join DAR. Our meetings provide an excellent opportunity to become acquainted with chapter members.
