Preservation * Patriotism * Education

Newton Chapter was formed in the city of Newton, Kansas, on April 9, 1904. Both our city and chapter are named for the city of Newton, Massachusetts, a suburb of Boston, where many of the stockholders of the Atchison, Topeka & Santa Fe Railroad lived.

Our chapter has faithfully served God, Home & Country for 120 years. Our community service has varied throughout the years. The Newton Chapter organized a chapter of the American Red Cross in Newton before World War 1. Members aided the war efforts with canteen work, knitting socks and make surgical dressings. Today's members passionately support active military members, veterans, and local youth through special service projects.

State Regent Visits The Newton Chapter placed bronze markers on the graves of a Revolutionary soldier's widow, Mrs. John (Rebecca) Burch, and their daughter, Elizabeth, near Halstead,KS. The markers were rededicated by the chapter in 2010.

We are a group of active women, all ages, from all walks of life. We promote DAR's mission of Education, Historic Preservation and Patriotism, by participating in state, chapter, and individual activities.

Regular monthly meetings are held on the second Saturday of the month, at 10:00 a.m., from September through May. We welcome prospective members to attend. Please contact us for more information by using the link below.
