About Our Chapter
NATHAN EDSON
Nathan Edson was born March 14, 1739, in Massachusetts. He died August 16, 1825,
in Stockbridge, New York. In 1762/6, he married Mary Hall and they had seven children.
Edson responded to the Lexington Alarm in Captain Hayden’s company of Minute Men,
Colonel Bailey’s regiment. He was the ancestor of Organizing Regent, Mrs. Henrietta
Alden Edson Van Noy.
The Concordia Chapter NSDAR was organized March 14, 1921. The Nathan Edson
Chapter NSDAR was organized November 25, 1933. The two chapters were merged
October 18, 1989. Mrs. Ada Messall organized the Concordia Chapter, named for its
location.
WHO ARE WE?
We are farm wives, housewives, secretaries, teachers, mayors, nurses, laboratory
scientists, DMV clerks, college students, mothers, grandmothers, aunts, nieces,
sisters, granddaughters, and cousins. We are active members of our community and
our churches. We range from being members of the first families of Clay and Cloud
counties to being the new kids on the block.
MEETINGS
We split meetings between the Clay Center and the Concordia areas and have a
Monday or a Saturday afternoon meeting September through June. Except for our
annual meeting in January, guests are always welcome.
