How to Join DAR
Daughters of the American Revolution is comprised of female descendants of
individuals who served in or gave material aid to the cause of American Independence.
An applicant for membership must be no less than 18 years of age. Her ancestor may
have signed the Declaration of Independence, served in the Military, served in Civil
Service or provided other Patriotic Service. An ancestor can be male or female.
Women may join a local chapter or become a member-at-large. Application is subject
to approval by the National Society. The Daughters of the American Revolution does
not discriminate based on race, color, or religion. You must prove your lineal, bloodline
descent from a Revolutionary Patriot.
While it’s a big job to prove a lineage, there are resources to assist you in your effort.
The
NSDAR Website has a comprehensive area with tips on proving your lineage.
