"Any woman is eligible for membership in the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution who is not less than 18 years of age, and who is descended from a man or woman, who with unfailing loyalty to the cause of American Independence, served as a sailor, or a soldier or civil officer in one of the several Colonies or States...or as a recognized patriot, rendered material aid thereto."

DAR is a volunteer service organization, that for over 100 years has been dedicated to the objectives of Historic Preservation, Promotion of Education, and Patriotic Endeavor. There are over 170,000 members world-wide, in nearly 3,000 chapters.

Membership requirements are the same for all chapters. No chapter discriminates against applicants on the basis of race or religion. Women interested in becoming members of DAR are encouraged to attend a chapter meeting. Please contact us for information on Marais des Cygnes Chapter meetings. For chapters located in other parts of Kansas, visit the Kansas DAR website. For other locations around the country and the world, visit the National Society DAR's website.

Proving your lineage can be fun and you will learn a great deal about your family and our country's history in the process. The National Society has provided an area on the NSDAR website that provides many tips for establishing your descent from a Revolutionary Patriot.

As part of our Membership program, both chapter officers and members are available to offer suggestions and provide assistance to women who wish to join DAR. Our meetings provide an excellent opportunity to become acquainted with chapter members.
