Genealogy Workshops

We had two Genealogy Workshops this fall. Some of the attendees were (L – R) Doris Malin-Leete, Carol Lockas, Krista Young, Lola Caraway, Bonnie Raff and Regent Karen Rinehart.

WASP - Dr. Ellen Verell

Dr Ellen Verell gave a program on the Women Airforce Service Pilots (WASP).

WASP was comprised by the first women in history trained to fly American military aircraft.

Constitution Week - Bells Across America

We rang our bells in celebration of Freedom during our Constitution Week activities at our September meeting.

Constitution Week

Cimarron River Valley Chapter handed out copies of the Constitution on Saturday during Constitution Week. We had help reading the Amendments from High School Government Students with Lola Caraway reading the last Amendment.

War of 1812 Commemoration

This poster was part of a program that was given by the Editor of our newspaper, Leader & Times, Earl Watt. He did an excellent job on his subject, the War of 1812. His presentation was very interesting.

Martha Washington Medal

The Sons of the American Revolution organization awards the Martha Washington medal to individuals with distinguished service to the SAR. Shown here is Uncle Sam (Robert Caraway) awarding the medal to chapter regent, Karen Rinehart.

Thanksgiving

Our hostesses for our November meeting were Doris Malin-Leete and Doris Ogletree. They had a very colorful dessert table for Thanksgiving.

Citizenship Class

The Cimarron River Valley Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution sponsored a tea for the 28 students in the Colvin Learning Citizenship class to mark their final class. One of the students was recognized for passing her test and another took part in a mock interview. The Cimarron River Valley Chapter, DAR, was represented by Karen Rinehart, Regent, Lola Caraway, Bonnie Raff, and Sammy Cope. Present from the Colonel John Seward Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution were Ray Dee Rinehart, President, and Robert Caraway (Uncle Sam).

Christmas Party

We met at Billy’s Blue Duck Bar-B-Q on Saturday, December 15th, 2012 at 11:00 AM. We invited our spouses and the Colonel John Seward Chapter SAR to be our guests. Also in attendance were Benjamin Franklin (Dennis Burk) and his wife Mrs. Franklin (Linda Burk). Uncle Sam (Robert Caraway) made an appearance.

We had 37 members and guests in attendance. Karen Rinehart, Cimarron River Valley Regent, welcomed the group. She introduced Ray Dee Rinehart, President of the Colonel John Seward Chapter, SAR. She also, introduced Benjamin Franklin (Dennis Burke). Steve Leete led the group in several spirited Christmas Songs. He sang a Christmas solo for the group, “Christmas Every Day.”

We all had a good meal served by Billy’s Blue Duck Bar-B-Q wait staff. The program was given by Lola Caraway. She did a question and answer program on “Presidential Little Known Facts.” Patriotic Christmas ornaments were given away as prizes.

Conservation

Cimarron River Valley Chapter recycled one-half ton of used paper. The paper was removed from an Accounting Office.
